London is just around the corner and here I am again, sitting in bed at 10 in the morning and planning how I’m going to cut my luggage down. You never realize how much stuff you have until you plan a long trip and have to leave all of it behind! In all honesty, that has been one of the blessings of planning for this little adventure of mine – getting to purge my closet (and my life) of all of the unnecessary stuff I had been carrying around with me. Saying goodbye to some things that I had been holding onto for a long time, little reminders of people and places that I had previously been unable to let go of, felt like a release of breath I had been holding for a long, long time. Getting to choose exactly what I wanted to surround myself with for the next two months (and exactly what I wanted to come home to) has given me a sense of purpose and freedom that I wasn’t expecting when I started planning.
This is just a little mini-journey, but I hope that in some small way – just like emptying my closet – it can point me in the right direction.
